There are 63 fully functional NBI Clearance Branches across the Philippines that are operated by the National Bureau of Investigation. There are 16 branches classified as Regional NBI Clearance Offices and 22 as District Offices. Eleven (11) of these branches are based within government buildings, while the remaining NBI branches are located in shopping malls, including Robinsons Malls, Ever Gotesco, and Duty-Free Stores.
Due to the high number of clearance applications, the National Bureau of Investigation introduced the new clearance biometrics system. Specifically, this system was made to accommodate the large number of applicants in Metro Manila.
